Blech

I hope you ate lunch already.

After not sleeping most of the night, I finally snuck in a couple hours early this morning, had some hot mint tea and then got a solid 3 hours, waking after noon.

I feel like someone poured cement or epoxy into my sinuses. Just how big are those things any way? I tried flushing them out with warm saline but there seemed to be like a gallon of sludge up there. Fortunately, I did this in the shower because, after a few minutes, I looked like Alien, with crap dripping and dangling from my three facial orifices. Pleasant picture, right? At least my eyes don't feel like they going to shoot across room every time I open them.

xDid you use a neti pot? The neti pot worked great for my dh, but it didn't ever do a thing for me. You might try it if that's not what you are already using.

I had to look up what a neti pot was. I don't have anything that fancy. In the description of how to use one they show a person with their head tilted, pouring saline in one side and it coming out the other. My experience was different, requiring a bit of pressure and not draining out the other nostril.

The intent is that the river of saline travels up through one nostril, runs all through the sinuses in your forehead and then out the other nostril. Apparently, some people use their neti pot every day. It is recommended for allergies and infections. Alan had a serious sinus infection that typical antibiotics couldn't even touch, so he needed all the help he could get. You can buy them at grocery stores that focus on whole/organic foods. You shouldn't use tap water -- I think distilled is recommended and I think I was recommended kosher salt. If interested, I'm sure the people that work at such stores could advise you.

I think I'll stick with my method for the little I use it (I think this was my third). I use the saline that is meant for your eyes but that would get expensive if you did it often.
There's no difference between regular salt and kosher salt (usually not iodized but you can get non-iodized regular salt) except coarseness.
